Heimtextil 2025 Frankfurt Hits New Records, Surge in Demand for Eco-friendly Home Textiles (2025)

Held from January 14 to 17, 2025, Heimtextil Frankfurt – the International Trade Fair for Home and Contract Textiles – achieved record attendance and scale. As the global benchmark for the home textile industry, the event gathered over 3,000 exhibitors from 142 countries and more than 50,000 professional buyers. Visitor numbers rose by 10% year on year, with on-site orders exceeding 800 million US dollars. Sustainable home textiles, AI design and smart textiles emerged as the three major highlights. The booming fair mirrors a structural shift across the global home textile market: environmental performance has overtaken price as the top purchasing priority. Soaring demand for products made from recycled fibers, bio-based fabrics and low-carbon goods has brought substantial opportunities for textile enterprises worldwide.

Sustainable home textiles stood out as the core highlight. Bedding, towels, curtains, sofa covers and other items crafted from recycled cotton, lyocell, modal, recycled polyester and ocean-recovered PET fibers occupied prime exhibition areas, drawing long queues of international buyers for negotiations and bulk orders. Statistics show that 65% of buyers prioritize products with eco-certifications including GOTS, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and EU Ecolabel. Orders for home textiles using recycled fibers accounted for 58% of the total, a year-on-year increase of 82%. Orders for bio-based fabrics such as bamboo fiber, hemp fiber and mushroom leather jumped by 110% year on year, with a price premium ranging from 30% to 50%. By contrast, booths offering low-cost conventional home textiles saw sparse visitors, and products without eco-certifications were largely ignored. Environmental compliance has now become a fundamental entry threshold for the industry.

Beyond sustainability, AI design and smart textiles emerged as new growth drivers. AI-powered technologies for pattern design, color matching and virtual display boosted design efficiency by 40% and cut development costs by 25%. Around 80% of international brands plan to fully adopt AI design in 2026. Orders for smart textiles, including temperature-regulating bedding, antibacterial towels and sleep-monitoring home textiles, rose by 75% year on year. These products enjoy strong demand in high-end European and American markets, with a price premium of 50% to 80%.

Heimtextil 2025 clearly reveals new trends in the global home textile sector: the industry is moving away from cut-throat price competition and entering a new era focused on environmental performance, functionality and design value. This transformation is fueled by multiple factors: mandatory recycled content requirements under the EU ESPR Regulation, rising environmental awareness among consumers — 72% of shoppers are willing to pay a 10%–20% premium for eco-friendly home textiles — the implementation of sustainability commitments by international brands, and global carbon neutrality policies. Industry forecasts project that the global sustainable home textile market will surpass 60 billion US dollars in 2026, with an annual growth rate above 18%, far outpacing the 3%–5% growth of traditional home textiles.

For textile companies across the globe, Heimtextil 2025 sends a clear message: accelerating the transition to sustainable home textiles is essential to avoid being phased out by the international market. Enterprises that proactively expand production capacity for recycled and bio-based fabrics and obtain international eco-certifications can capture high-end market share, secure long-term orders and improve profit margins. Adopting AI design and developing smart textiles helps build differentiated competitiveness and gain access to premium markets in Europe and America.

In the long run, as global environmental regulations grow stricter and sustainable consumption becomes more mainstream, eco-friendly home textiles will dominate the industry. International exhibitions like Heimtextil will continue to focus on green innovation, driving the global home textile industry toward high-end development, sustainability and intellectualization.
